Ride weekend   May 29-31, 2009, Saint Leo University

First and foremost, Cure on Wheels is a fundraising event. As a bonus, it happens to include a scenic, fun, challenging and inspirational weekend of cycling.

The Ride Requirements
The cost to ride in this event is a registration fee of $149.00. This non-refundable fee includes lodging at St. Leo University for two nights and will not be applied towards your fundraising goal.  The fundraising deadline is October 31st.

All riders are required to set up a riders page to help promote and collect donations to reach their individual goals.  The fundraising minimum required to ride in the event is a special first year promotional amount of $500.00. The normal minimum is $1,000 and will be required in future years.  Virtual riders are welcome to participate in the event festivities and have no fundraising minimum.  To register and start on your custom riders page, please visit our GiftTool site by clicking here: REGISTER TO RIDE.

Riders may accept donations on their personal MyCOW page in the form of online credit cards and checks. Checks however, can not be submitted online, they can be mailed directly to the rider or sent to Cure on Wheels. Each check received will be applied to the riders account, if the appropriate information is submitted at the time of the donation. A form may be provided to help the contributor find a specific account and can be found in MyCOW account. For more information on Check donations, please CLICK HERE.

Friday
Riders are encouraged to come and sign in to our lovely facility at Saint Leo University (SLU) on Friday afternoon from 3-9pm. You can turn in any money not yet sent in, pick up your goodie bag, weekend pass and even relax in your dorm room. There is a pool, tennis, golf and a beautiful campus to stroll about with a view of Lake Jovita.  Mechanics will be present to help with any last minute tweaking of your bike. (Please note: riders are asked to have their bikes tuned and checked before arrival). There will also be vendors there to supply many of your biking needs.

Friday night, there will be a program with several speakers and some great video that you won’t want to miss.  You can be sure there will be many stories of hope and inspiration as well as a chance to just kick back and relax.  Dinner will be provided for riders as a part of their registration.  Families, friends and supporters are welcome to purchase separate meal passes and join in all the festivities.

Saturday
Saturday morning begins with reveille at 5:00 am. Breakfast is served to riders. The ride begins Saturday morning at 6:45 am. with both routes diverging at the Spring Lake lunch stop and finishing the day on Saturday afternoon at SLU in Saint Leo. Volunteers are stationed at waterstops roughly every 20 miles along the routes to support the riders, prepare and serve food, park bikes, and take care of any medical and mechanical needs. AT SLU, riders check in after their ride, celebrate the end of a hard day of cycling with live music, an all-you-can-eat buffet, and a well-earned, complimentary15-minute sports massage for all two-day riders.

On Saturday afternoon and evening, one-day riders return home. Although some two-day riders spend Saturday night “off campus” with family and loved ones, most have overnight accommodations at SLU. The dorm rooms are air conditioned and linens are provided.

Sunday
Sunday at SLU begins with reveille at 5:00 a.m. and an early morning breakfast served by Cure on Wheels volunteers. Most riders are on the road by 6:45 am. and many volunteers have started their day’s work at 4:00 a.m.

On Sunday afternoon, volunteers greet and provide sustenance for the cyclists finishing at SLU.  AT SLU, riders check in after their ride and celebrate the end of a hard day of cycling with an all-you-can-eat buffet. Family and supporters are welcome to join in the meal but will need to purchase a meal ticket. It is a time of celebration and an opportunity to reflect on the memories of the weekend.
