Cure on Wheels had donated over $1,000,000.00 locally throughout the Tampa Bay area to specific and targeted programs to assist patients and their families whose lives have been changed by the diagnosis of cancer.
2018 Fundraising Achievements & Contributions
$91,000 was donated to Moffitt Cancer Center to the Integrated Mathematical Oncology Program to specifically assist with clinical trials for Prostate Cancer.
One of major issues in clinical trials in oncology is their high failure rate, despite the fact that the trials were designed based on the data from successful equivalent preclinical studies. This is in part due to the intrinsic homogeneity of preclinical model systems and the contrasting heterogeneity of actual patient responses. Dr. Andersons lab has developed a mathematical model-driven framework, phase I (virtual/imaginary) trials, that integrates the heterogeneity of actual patient responses and preclinical studies through a cohort of virtual patients. The computational framework to implement phase I trials in cancer can readily capture observed heterogeneous clinical outcomes and predict patient survival. Importantly, phase I trials can be used to optimize future clinical trial design.
$10,000 was donated to Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation
These funds will provide non-medical, financial assistance to adults undergoing cancer treatment in Florida. A cancer diagnosis can change everything. For some, it may mean the added stress of financial hardship. Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that was created to help patients who need financial assistance while undergoing treatment. The Foundation allows those fighting cancer to concentrate on recovery rather than their overdue rent, mortgage, electric, or water bill.
$2000 was donated to the annual Cape Coral Foundation "Helping Hands for the Holidays" fundraiser
This Aubuchon signature event has raised over $500,000 for local charities. All contributions benefit: Make-A-Wish Southern Florida, granting wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions; Ronald McDonald House Charities SW Florida, helping thousands of families find a "home-away-from-home" while their children receive medical treatment; LEE BIA Builders Care, providing emergency construction services at no cost to needy and deserving elderly and disabled homeowners who cannot obtain home repairs on their own.

These funds were donated to Moffitt Cancer Center for their effort in assisting cancer patients in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Irma by supplying medical doctors and supplies after the storm.
$2000 was donated to Tampa Bay area YMCA's to benefit the Livestrong Cancer Survivors Program
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a twelve-week, small group program designed for adult cancer survivors. This program fulfills the important need of supporting the increasing number of cancer survivors who find themselves in the transitional period between completing their cancer treatment and the shift to feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to attempt to return to their normal life or their "new normal".
The goal is to help participants build muscle mass and muscle strength, increase flexibility and endurance and improve functional ability. Additional goals include reducing the severity of therapy side effects, preventing unwanted weight changes and improving energy levels and self-esteem. A final goal of the program is to assist participants in developing their own physical fitness program so they can continue to practice a healthy lifestyle, not only as part of their recovery, but as a way of life.

Sometimes children are "forgotten" during this very stressful and emotional time, but actually need the most help in understanding what is happening. They often feel alone and scared as not many other children are experiencing the same problems. This vital support begins at diagnosis of the parent/family member and continues during treatment, recovery, and even in the unfortunate circumstance of death of a parent or family member.

$20,000 was donated to the Moffitt Cancer Center to benefit the Advanced Prostate Cancer Coalition (APCC).
$10,000 was donated to Moffitt Cancer Center to benefit the AYA program (Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Program).
This program encompasses the care of patients who are between 15 to 40 years of age at the time of diagnosis. This population comprises patients who have a wide range of diagnoses, some of which are more common in older adults and some of which are more common in pediatric patients. Many of these patients over the past decades have fallen into a gap in care between the pediatric and the adult cancer specialists. There are significant and unique psychosocial needs that the adolescent and young adult cancer patients experience. Moffitt's team of experts support AYA patients throughout the treatment process and helps them to navigate this course to a fulfilling, productive life during the treatment of and after cancer.
